Meet Morgan
Morgan Pertzborn, MA, LPCC
Hello! My name is Morgan (they/them, she/her) and I am a person-centered, intersectional, strengths-based therapist.
I am dedicated to helping those of any age with neurodiverse symptoms, early trauma experiences, and social/emotional or complex behavioral challenges.
As a genderqueer member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, a late-diagnosed neurodivergent adult, and a person living with chronic illness, I understand the challenges of not feeling seen or heard in emotional struggle. Communication and accurate self-expression and advocacy can be challenging for anyone, but through my practice, I hope to encourage my clients to explore a variety of techniques that fit them as individuals. I strive to not only help my clients understand and process the challenges in their personal life experience, but be able to fully incorporate skills - consciously or subconsciously- into daily routine. By using a variety of interwoven therapeutic techniques, including talk, play, art, nature, and more, I aim to meet each person where they are at so that my clients leave feeling seen and able to express themselves in a way that feels most impactful to them.
In my practice, I embrace a relational, person-centered approach to work with adolescents, teens, parents, families, and groups of people experiencing a spectrum of life challenges, including anxiety, relational struggles, social/behavioral concerns, aggression, neurodivergence (including developmental delay, autism, OCD, and more), life transitions, early childhood trauma, and more. I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities, including transpersonal methods, bibliotherapy, expressive arts, play, nature, narrative/parts work, emotionally-focused talk therapy, psychodynamic understandings, feminist/identity-based approaches, and psychoeducation. This eclectic approach ensures that you can feel as safe as possible to explore what you are needing in each moment without the pressure of always having that heavy, resistant feeling.
Certifications: Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS)
Morgan Pertzborn, Human
Hello! My name is Morgan (they/them, she/her) and I am a person who holds many degrees. I graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University in 2024. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Human Sexuality, and Democracy and Justice Studies in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.
I’ve always worked with children and their families, but my role as a preschool teacher led me to my current career. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was a preschool teacher who was given the “tough kids.” My classroom held the aggressive, restless, anxious/”sensitive” kids and those with learning disabilities. My room was loud, but it was full of so many strengths, unique skills, and lots of love. Through this work, I learned more than any book could teach me about what it was like to really see people at an individual level.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin and was actively involved in feminist and social justice groups in college. I completed an independent study on reproductive justice for incarcerated women over the course of 2.5 years, growing my passion for advocating for increased access for women’s health, decreasing general social minority disparities, prison reform, and increased accessibility to quality childcare and education.
I am a bit of a hobby collector, so there’s a lot of things that bring me peace and joy in life. This includes camping, hiking, gardening, reading, art (mostly painting or clay work), yoga, pilates, paddleboarding, baking (welcome to my sourdough era), tattooing, learning languages (French, German, Gaelic, Japanese, and Spanish), game nights with friends, pulling oracle cards, collecting rocks, and more.
Some of my current favorite things:
Band: Pierce the Veil
Book: The Names by Florence Knapp
Show: Dirty Laundry on Dropout TV
Food: Sourdough crepes
Color: Black
Animal: Whale Shark
Self-Care Activity: Ritualizing my morning matcha preparation
